Trying to get out of my funk...

The zero-carb debate rages on in the low-carb world. Gimmicky diet? Or legitimate? We shall see.

Back to reality now, let's see how I'm doing. Hmm...not so good. Depressed, mostly. I try to keep a happy face at work. No one cares at the gym. I can grunt and grit my teeth as much as I like. As for food, I hate the feeling of being addicted to bad carbs, such as triscuits and cheese. Anxiety leads me straight to the box and I would like to conquer the beast!

This week I decided to go back to blogging my menus. Also, lowering my fat intake, yet, increasing protein for a more "cut" look to my muscles.

Monday - 2/9/2009

B: 3 eggs scrambled, 1/4t mayo, mustard, spices, green tea.
S: 4oz. fat-free cottage cheese.
L: Same as Breakfast.
S: 1/2 grapefruit
D: 4oz. tuna with mayo, 2 hard-boiled eggs, 1 turkey cube, green tea.

I'll give this a week and post a progress pic.

Go easy.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down, Lora.

Does your exercise program include any cardio (like walking on a treadmill)? I've read some research that indicates that cardio can help improve mood.

Have you tried any natural supplements to see if it might help (with the depression)? Fish oil may be good place to start.

I wish you all the best.

I take all kinds of supplements and do my cardio, Harry. I just want to get out of my funk before it affects my job.

Lora,
Sorry to see your having a tough time. I think your on the right path, your still trying and that is what counts.

My suggestion would be to always remain as positive as possible. Once you notice those negative feelings start to creep in, change your way of thinking to the positive side of things. If you can't find a positive, then find something you are grateful for to concentrate on. This has really been working for me. Hope it helps.

Hang in there. I don't always post a comment but I'm usually always around lurking. :)

When I exercise, I try to mix it up... indoors at the gym, next day outdoors with the sunshie.. I put on my favorite Prince CD and WALK.. :) Walking is good for the soul... find a place to walk, and keep on going.. You have lots of friends here. Walk with a friend if you can... :) Take care.. Keep looking UP :)
